Thank you for your interest in the North Idaho Enological Society (NIES), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing the knowledge, appreciation and enjoyment of wine. North Idaho Enological Society members are a diverse group ranging in age, background and occupation who meet September through May.
Whether you are new to wine appreciation or are an experienced wine consumer, you are welcome here!
Our tasting events are social as well as educational, usually focused on tasting, comparing, evaluating and learning about different wines. Each tasting features multiple wines, while following a theme. Gourmet cheese, crackers, and other finger food are provided during each tasting to cleanse the palate and accompany the wine. A fee is charged for each tasting, and an advance reservation is required.
On the third Friday of every month (October thru April), the monthly event is held at Lake City Center, 1916 N. Lakewood Dr. in Coeur d’Alene. The tasting begins with a greeting wine at 7:15 p.m. as we mix and mingle with friends. The actual program starts at 7:30 p.m.
Additionally, we have three special events each year. In September, we hold our annual Kickoff Party to resume our wine tasting season. In December, it’s a Holiday Extravaganza presenting a variety of champagne and wines with catered hors d’oeuvres, music, and a wine bottle exchange. To end our season in May, a Winemaker's Dinner is held at the Hayden Lake Country Club. The chefs showcase their talents with special hors d’oeuvres and an elegant five-course dinner accompanied by high-end wines paired to each course. The winemaker from the featured winery will enlighten us with information regarding the wines we are drinking.
Reservations are necessary. Join as a member or you are cordially invited to attend one of our tastings as a guest. Check the upcoming wine events tab for more information about our tastings. Please call our reservation chair, Linda Pendleton, at (208) 623-3333 to reserve a spot at a tasting or for more information. If you have already made a reservation and find you will be unable to attend, please notify the reservation chair so someone on the wait list can attend. Click here for a printable copy of the form.
